At Biomedal, we are proud to announce that today we have finally launched screening for the early detection of celiac disease cases in sports centers in the province of Seville.
This proposal is included in a scientific study carried out by our laboratories and the University of Seville and which, in addition, has the support of the Seville Celiac Association (ASPROCESE). Its main objectives are:
- Detect possible cases of Celiac Disease hidden in the sports community completely free of charge for the patient.
- Carrying out a follow-up in those positive cases of celiac disease to check whether the treatment of the disease implies an improvement in academic and sports performance.
The study will be carried out mainly in children between the ages of 2 and 18, who will undergo the CeliacDetect Rapid Kit. In this way, after a small stitch in the finger, the kit will reveal in just 10 minutes if there is presence of the disease antibodies.
The research will be carried out between now and the end of the year and is intended for a sample of at least 1,000 children. In this way, we want to make special mention of the first clubs confirmed by their participation in the study: Club Olivar de Quintos, Campus of Real Betis of Basketball, Real Club de Golf of Seville, Ketal Sport and the Campus of the British School of Seville.
As of today, we still have some free places for study, so if you are interested in it, you can contact us for more information: info@biomedal.com.
